The garbage comes once a week on Wednesday. This means that we put the canisters out to the curb onTuesday. It would be appreciated if on Tuesday that you take the garbage all the way to the curb where the cans are. This helps insure that we do not start out with old garbage in the freshly emptied cans. The cans at the 301 building fill to overflowing quickly. Please place all garbage inside of a Plastic Bag and Seal it tightly. This helps to eliminate odors in the canisters area and also keeps rodents and insects away. Recycled material must be broken down before putting them into the recycle canisters. This means ALL BOXES and items MUST BE COMPLETELY BROKEN DOWN! Boxes that are over one foot square need to be broken down and placed on the stack upon the pallet just to the left of the elevator as you step off. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO BREAK THEM DOWN. Styrofoam is not recyclable and needs to be removed from the boxes and put into the garbage. Recycle comes every other week so we need to stay on top if this to be successful in keeping this area clean. One other thing that needs to be addressed is the placing of large items in the area. Items such as appliances, equipment, or anything that does not fit into the canisters needs to be taken somewhere or donated. We have no way of disposing of these items at the building. The other choice would be to take them to the dumpster behind 411 East Thomas. No mattresses or furniture though. It only takes a few extra seconds to do these requests and if everyone can get with this program it will save us at least two hours a week that we spend with our head stuck in the garbage and recycle trying to get it fixed so we have enough room to get through to the next pickup. I will thank you ahead of time for following these few small rules that will make it better for all and keep me from falling into the canisters.
